Highland Dynamics is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based engineer/designer Bryce Gonzales. For more than 20 years, Bryce has engineered and tech'd at some of California's most well known studios including The Hangar, Vox, The Village and United Recording. All the while, identifying all the intricacies and nuances of 75 years worth of audio technologies. In 2014, Highland Dynamics released the now legendary BG2 tube compressor followed by a production reissue of his custom BG1 compressor. However, due to the scarcity of many components used these revered designs were no longer feasible to make for a broad production scale. Throughout the trying COVID times, Bryce spent countless hours developing new design ideas that are better suited for scalable production without sacrificing any of the unique tube complexities Highland Dynamics designs are lauded for. Ever evolving. Ever inspired. Ever Highland Dynamics.
Delta 4-7 Mk. 2
Using a revolutionary British preamp as inspiration, the Delta 4-7 Mk.2 is an EF86-based tube amplifier designed to accommodate a myriad of studio uses. The input selector of each channel chooses between high impedance instrument or balanced sources. Each input type has its own variable pad circuit. Each channel also features a three-frequency high pass filter with roll offs at 50Hz, 90Hz, and 150Hz, to accommodate rumble removal or total low end removal effects. The Gain control is beyond a simple pad and controls the feedback of the amplifier circuit. Higher feedback settings result in cleaner more refined tones, while lower settings result in more color and character, and the open (no feedback) setting results in the liveliest setting of all. For even more sonic flexibility, the Delta 4-7 Mk.2 has a link function that cascades the output of Channel 1 into the balanced input of Channel 2, allowing sources to be sculpted with multiple stages of saturation and harmonic distortion. The Delta 4-7 Mk.2 is the culmination of the Highland Dynamics design journey. Join the club.
